Amtico Transforms Smeg UK’s HQ Showroom
Amtico has stepped in to help appliance brand Smeg UK as part of the refurbishment of its Abingdon HQ showroom. The space needed a beautiful design to complement the brand’s 500 products on display; enter Amtico with a contemporary design from its Spacia collection.

Central to the brief was providing beautiful flooring highly resistant to wear and capable of withstanding the many visitors, as well as regular display changes within the showroom. With the help of the in-house team at Amtico, Smeg chose the Spacia LVT collection in Sun Bleached Oak – a rustic yet contemporary timber-effect design – and Gallery Concrete, a mid-grey stone shade. The warm oak hue is also utilised across all of Smeg’s exhibition stands, creating a welcoming and familiar feel for visitors and customers.
Commenting on the redesign, John Davies, Head of Marketing at Smeg UK, said: “The showroom’s previous loose lay floor was not fit for purpose, so durability was a key factor when choosing a replacement. With an established relationship with Amtico on our exhibition displays, we knew the quality of the products. By using the Spacia collection in the oak and concrete shades, it really helps to complement Smeg’s semi-industrial look.” To emphasise the size of the space, Amtico’s Spacia Sun Bleached Oak was laid in a simple Stripwood laying pattern with the planks running the length of the space, providing a clean, uninterrupted feel.
To create a relaxed meeting area zoned away from the product displays, Amtico’s Gallery Concrete was laid in Broken Bond to deliver simplicity and tonal variations. The almost seamless, large-scale poured concrete effect flooring separates the space from the large display area while, also complementing the decorative product wall display.
Amtico’s Spacia LVT collection answered the complex needs of the Smeg showroom: hardwearing, durable and able to withstand the heavy appliances. John commented: “The finished design looks great and works really well across the showroom.”
