Andy Thornton’s Furniture Elevates the Colourful Space of Bengal Lounge

Welcome to the Bengal Lounge in Pocklington, a vibrant fusion of colour and comfort brought to life through the expert interior design of Greybear, exquisite furniture by Andy Thornton Ltd., and meticulous project management by the Broadmanor Group.

Drawing inspiration from the vivid hues of Indian spices, the Bengal Lounge’s newly reimagined interiors feature a harmonious blend of shades and textures that create an inviting atmosphere of warmth and elegance. Central to this transformation are the Nina Side Chairs, upholstered in Sunbury’s recycled boucle fabric, Leopold Vivaldi 4223, adding both style and sustainability to this popular local curry house.

The primary chair is the Nina Side Chair which are upholstered in a recycled boucle from Sunbury—Leopold Vivaldi 4223. Leopold is a contract standard, plain boucle fabric whose unique texture and tactile nature oozes high quality and refinement. This durable fabric is woven using 100% Repreve recycled polyester, includes a flurocarbon (PFC) free easy clean treatment and halogen free FR. Leopold is fully REACH compliant and manufactured to Oeko Tex Standard 100.

The secondary chairs are the Elane, with contemporary open-backs fully upholstered in Kepler Malvern 2615, an incredibly hard-wearing contract fabric which is water and oil-repellent as well as stain-resistant and anti-viral meaning the fabric will stay looking its best with minimal maintenance.

Jonny Bennett, Business Development Manager, Andy Thornton said:
“The client & designer visited our showroom on several occasions. They had already picked a colour palette and used our fabric library to match their ideas to specific collections. We requested samples and when all were received they tested the scheme on site and  then returned to the showroom a final time to place their selections against the furniture samples. As well as being on trend, the choice of recycled boucle provides depth of texture that contrasts well with the faux-stone laminate tops, creating a cosy, contemporary and more sustainable restaurant space.”

Using antiques cabinets for extra charm

As well as contemporary furniture the design incorporated two of our antique cabinets: the Grocers Shelving Unit and Antique Green Cabinet were chosen for their rustic charm and functional storage capabilities. These pieces serve as practical elements while contributing to the Lounge’s warm, inviting atmosphere.

The image left shows just how well the rustic Grocer’s Shelving Unit suits the space and acts as both a decorative element for bric a brac and also a dividing screen to create a partition between tables.
