Announcing the Winner of The European Hotel Design Awards 2016
The European Hotel Design Awards announces its 2016 winners.
The EHDA’s, which celebrate exceptional hotel design and architecture and honour the work of industry leading architects, interior designers and operators, has revealed its winners from Monday nights ceremony. The glittering ceremony was at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, attended by over 900 guests from across Europe.

This award was selected by the judging panel from the nominated hotels in Architecture and Interior Design categories.
This project [first picture] was described by judges as a genuinely unique destination, and it provides ‘great sensitivity to a heritage site, and a real labour of love, responding elegantly to a technically challenging site’.
OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION
The prestigious Outstanding Contribution accolade was awarded to Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO of Starwood Capital Group.
Barry Sternlicht is the founder and visionary behind many of the industry’s innovative hotel brands. From founding Starwood Capital Group to creating the W Hotels Brand, to building St Regis Hotels, and founding SH Group – owner and manager of Baccarat Hotels & Resorts and 1 Hotels brands – Sternlicht has also recently launches The Principal Hotel Company. A new urban lifestyle brand comprising city centre hotels based in landmark buildings across the UK, the first principal has recently opened in Manchester’s former Palace Hotel.
Closing the ceremony, Matt Turner, Awards Director and Editor-in-Chief of Sleeper annonced;
“We look forward to building on the success of the EHDA’s over the past fifteen years as these awards become part of a new platform AHEAD – The awards for hospitality experience and design – from 2017 and beyond”.
