Behind the Goals: Furniture Fusion Delivers a Winning Look for Hibernian FC’s Easter Road Lounge

Fans of Scottish football may be able to guess the location of Furniture Fusion’s latest project – located in a Scottish Premiership club’s Famous Five stand, the interior includes upholstery and design accents in the club’s iconic bottle green.

New furniture for an iconic Scottish football stadium

This stylish new hospitality lounge and community hub is at the Easter Road home of Hibernian Football Club in Edinburgh – and with the first game of the season as their deadline, the contract furniture firm’s team pulled out all the stops to ensure they delivered and installed a large number of chairs, bar stools and tables in time.

Located on the second floor of the club’s Famous Five Stand – named after Hibs’ most celebrated forward line – the hospitality lounge Behind The Goals offers a premium sports bar setting for supporters to enjoy matches in style and comfort. It’s also used for conferences and events throughout the year, so it was important that the furniture supplied for this refurb could be easily reconfigured to suit different layouts.

Furniture Fusion’s Lisa stool was a perfect choice for this busy, buzzy space – stylish, super-comfortable and stackable, it’s easy to move around and reposition as needed. Naturally, upholstery was selected to match the club’s instantly recognisable bottle-green colour, so the stools were covered in Vescom’s Norfolk fabric – an eco-friendly two-tonal weave made from 100% recycled polyester. The stools are placed against tall marble-effect laminate tables with folding Ypsilon bases.

The best seats in the house of course have spectacular pitch views. For this prime spot, the Alexa Side Chair was supplied – a smart and stylish design that’s also stackable, with a cushioned seat and back. The team upholstered it in a black Camira Flax fabric – a sustainable and heavy-duty wool and flax blend – and set it alongside marble-effect laminate tables as before, in a lower height, giving Hibs fans a comfortable spot to watch all the action, even into extra time.

One of the key requirements of the project was to make the most of the lounge space, so Furniture Fusion included a number of round-top poseur tables to offer plenty of standing room. The bases of these tables were alternated in black and green for a stylish result throughout the hospitality lounge.

Alongside the new look lounge, the team also delivered furniture for the smart new Community Hub – a welcoming space for the club’s charity, Hibernian Community Foundation to hold events and support members of the local community. Arki benches and Arki Tables provide plenty of informal seating space for meetings, events and other activities. The versatile Alexa side chair and folding marble-look tables sit perfectly in this space, all finished in a monochrome colour palette which looks great alongside the green accents used throughout the venue.

Despite the scale of this project and tight lead times, Furniture Fusion successfully delivered everything on time and coordinated a seamless installation process, with their project manager on site for the final day to make sure everything was perfect.

This is the latest of several notable projects for Furniture Fusion and 442 Design, and it’s clear that the teams work well together. The end result is another striking, well-thought-out space that’s set to be at the heart of Saturday afternoons and more for years to come.
