Clerkenwell Design Week- BCFA Member Line-up

Clerkenwell Design Week is just around the corner, this year we have an overwhelming number of BCFA members who are getting involved. We list the members and what they will be showing during the event and timings to give you a taster of what to expect. Make sure you pop by and say hello! Design Insider will be out in full force to film the highlights of the event.

Acrylicize fountain 3

Over the 3 days

Altro- Altro will be launching their new London Showroom, Designed by AB Roger Design. They will also be hosting a number of Workshops.

Bisley Office Furniture – Collaboration with Acrylicize to explore identity and produce a stunning piece of public art that will present Bisley in an unexpected form.

Boss Design- Unveiling of a series of new and pioneering seating designs. Raising the curtain on yet another ground breaking range. Series of talks to highlight the innovative design and technology behind this range. Lyndon- new soft seating collection.

Camira Fabrics- Corrosion will be showcased in the showroom throughout Clerkenwell Design Week, alongside Synergy, the display will form part of the showrooms Industrial Landscape theme

Edge Design- Edge Design will be launching three new ranges over CDW this year. These mark a significant change in direction for Edge Design. The designers Lydia Addison, David Fox & Jason Lansdale with be there to talk to you about the inspiration behind these exciting new concepts at 2.00 pm on Thursday.

Ege Carpets- ege is launching the ‘Industrial Landscape’ collection by Tom Dixon

Gresham Office Furniture- Unveiling major and exciting developments in both its company and products, with leading independent designers present every day in the show rooms. Major hub for discussions on the latest and future trends and technologies

Johnson Tiles- Paint manufacturer Johnstone’s Trade is taking its latest R&D project on the road – inviting festival attendees to take part in its product development process. Testing its new cleanable, stain resisting product live on its stand at the Detail Pavilion (DP3 & DP4), the paint manufacturer will demonstrate that coatings innovation isn’t just a science, it’s an art. Visitors to Johnstone’s Trade stand will be able to learn more about the product through a variety of creative and interactive experiences. Highlights will include live art performances that showcase the paint’s properties in action, and on-stand testing stations where attendees can put the coating through its paces.

Tuesday Events

Camira Fabrics-  3pm – Global Trends: evolution, continuity and change; Camira’s Design & Development Manager, Catherine Counsell, explores the evolving pattern of global trend directions, how this aids and informs designers, and what insights it brings for future design specification.

Edge Design-
11am-3pm- “3D Printing for Interiors”- Jane Gibbons Laser Lines Demonstration
11am-3pm- “Working Sensationally”- Understanding the roles of senses in workplace design- Steve Maslin Senior Research Fellow at the Schumacher Institute for Sustainable Systems and Build Environment Expert for Design Council CABE”.

Hansgrohe- 9am – 7pm – The Water Studio at 12-16 Clerkenwell Road will be an open house for visitors to come and explore, meet the team and take part in the photo competition.

Milliken- 6-30pm- 80’s designer Pam Hogg talk about work, followed by Q&A session

Morgan-
11am-12pm- Yummy muffins will be offered in the morning along with Chair Yoga Classes
4pm – British artist, Remi Rough will be giving a one hour talk which includes the idea behind his art installation that will transform the Morgan showroom during the event.
From 5pm – There is an official launch party for Morgan’s new additions to the Rio, Manhattan and Lucca collections. Featuring 3D printed tables, nap booths and a workbench.

3pm- Discovering Clerkenwell- local wellbeing walk with Catto Walks

Decca-
12pm- james tobias in collaboration with students from the university of the west of England present what industry designers of the future Envisage tomorrow’s locker systems to look like
3pm- colour in the office, gary wheeler or grant kanik of wheeler kanik

Edge Design-
11am-5pm- “Lets talk BIM”- Chris Okure RIBA/NBS If you have any questions about BIM and how it might effect design, specification and FM come and talk to an expert
11am-3pm- “Communicating through BIM through 3D Printing Technology”- Robert Jefferies Hobs Studio- Drop in and talk to someone who really knows about 3D printing and how it relates to the interiors design sector.

Milliken- 6:30pm-Jimmy C and Ben Eine will talk about the street art scene and their own work. Screenings of a street art walk of Shoreditch.

Morgan-
10.30am-4.30pm – Pop in throughout the day and pedal away for a free healthy smoothie on one of the Love Smoothie Blenders Bikes.
11am-12pm – Chair Yoga Classes – Each session will last 15 minutes followed by a healthy drink. No need for lycra!
4pm – Michael Williams, a yoga and mindfulness teacher, will be giving an inspirational one hour talk, with exercises. Plus free smoothies will be on offer.

Hansgrohe- 5.30pm – Philippe Grohe will present the latest Axor WaterDream basin mixer designs from five renowned designers. These were unveiled in Milan last month and are being shown in the UK for the first time.

6pm – Black Forest Spring Festival is the theme for The Water Studio evening party and celebration (until 11pm).

Haworth- New Haworth products will be on display alongside Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Cappellini and Alias. Featured products will include pieces from the award-winning Openest collection, designed by Patricia Urquiola, as well as Windowseat by Mike & Maaike, and Harbor Work Lounge by Nicolai Czumaj-Bront. Also we will be introducing the new Dynaflex operational chair.
