Distinction Group provides for Holiday Inn, Bridgwater
The new and conveniently located Holiday Inn Express, Bridgwater opened this spring offering 138 guest rooms across five stories. The development also features a bar, restaurant and lounge area and benefits from excellent travel links to Bristol Airport and the West Country.
Distinction Group was approached by Zeal Hotels to provide the furniture for all 138 bedrooms, as well as many of the public areas, including bespoke branded reception pods.
Situated against the beautiful rural backdrop of Somerset, the new five-storey hotel aims to provide accommodation for visitors to Hinkley Point C and surrounding areas. However, its unique location, just moments from the M25, means guests are well equipped to explore anywhere from Cheddar Gorge to Weston-Super Mare.
As a well-established brand name, it was imperative that the furnishings in Bridgwater were reflective of Holiday Inn and Zeal Hotel’s acknowledged brand identity. Distinction were tasked with creating furniture that was not only recognisably Holiday Inn, but that appeared dynamically modern and unique.
The décor throughout the hotel boasts softly curved edges, inspired by Scandinavian design and includes sharp injections of colour for a bright and modern finish. The public areas are warm and welcoming, with an abundance of natural light to further enhance the colourful scheme.
The distinctive design was developed with the intention of creating a modern but homely feel for guests. The upholstery features boxy shapes and clean lines for an urban feel. Offset against the warm natural oak surfaces, the result is a vibrant and comforting space that’s perfect for unwinding.
The collection of double, twin and double-double bedrooms were designed and manufactured with a distinctive uniformity. The bold colours and modern edging are immediately recognisable as classic Holiday Inn branding. Distinction manufactured all the furniture for the guest rooms, including bespoke wall fixed TV panels and tea & coffee stations designed with fluid edges to maximise space within the room.
The same hues of natural oak that were employed to bring warmth throughout the public areas are used to the same effect in the guest rooms.
Over three decades, Distinction Group has enjoyed working on a diverse range of projects on an international scale. However, as a British based company they were delighted to be offered the opportunity to collaborate on this extraordinary UK project. Working with developer Zeal Hotels to bring their ideas and iconic branding to life was a great pleasure and privilege.
