The BCFA Open series continues with it’s second Manchester Open starting on October 4th.

Newmor Wallcoverings will be exhibiting at stand #1 and are planning to feature some amazing new products. We caught up with their Design manager, Suzanne Edwards to find out a bit about what they have in store for the exhibition…newmor leaves-room web

What are you most looking forward to showcasing at the Manchester Open?

We will be featuring 2 new collections – Leaves and Loom. Both have been designed in our print studio based in our manufacturing centre in Welshpool in Mid Wales. The Leaves is a really decorative fabric backed vinyl, featuring a beautifully hand drawn set of skeleton leaves and the print is complimented perfectly with a brand new emboss, which gives the product a really matt, deep texture. Available in 9 gorgeous colourways, we think this product is going to a trend setter for the commercial wallcovering market!

The Loom is another fabric backed vinyl, which adds to Newmor’s fantastic set of textile designs. The delicate blend of 3 different prints with a detailed emboss, give this product a great depth and it is available in 16 colourways.

What is exciting you about design in the north at the moment?

There are some great new interior design practices in the North, both for residential and commercial interiors, and they are designing with a fresh approach. The established designers and practices have always been at the forefront of interior design, but there is now a greater confidence, and to me, a feeling of “Why does everything have to be London-centric?”newmor darnell sofa web

What are your predictions for the future of design within hospitality environments?

There are lots of trends at the moment that are appearing in hotel interiors; everything from the rustic to chic, highly designed detailing. Still very popular is the mid century/retro look, but perhaps the pure 50’s 60’s design classics are giving way to a more modern twist on the very graphic look. Colours are certainly more muted, with a slightly more muddy look to the yellows and pinks that have been seen in the past couple of years.

Florals are still in abundance – though they are appearing more on statement pieces of furniture rather than on walls or floors. Texture in wallcoverings is still really important – from regular repeated elements to tactile natural surfaces found in leathers and textiles. Metalics are becoming more ‘brushed’ and less about the shine, with brass and rose gold becoming popular colours. The steel finishes and colours of the last few years are still in evidence, but are now being used with warmer, cozier fabrics, and less about the cold hard industrial looks.
