Furniture Fusion: Derbion Shopping Centre
Furniture Fusion love a challenge, and so were delighted to get started on their latest project with Derbion Shopping Centre. Furniture Fusion were assigned the task of creating and supplying furniture for the refurbished food court, which was a challenge they were excited to begin!
This is a busy space at the heart of the vibrant, buzzing East Midlands retail destination and so the team had to pull out all the stops to create this transformation. This gave them the chance to create some very special bespoke pieces, as well as supplying some of our most popular chairs, low stools, and bar stools.

Bespoke Commercial Furniture
Furniture Fusion are proud of the bespoke pieces they created for this project – the first is the high table at which their popular Techna stools sit. This has a solid timber base, with curved slatted detail all round, and a chunky laminate top. The table features integrated power sockets and an inset planter, plus a metal-framed integrated light, which allows the space to be utilized to its full potential.
The striking bespoke fixed seating unit is clad in white tiles to match the supporting pillars and is finished with a sleek timber seat and punchy orange upholstered back cushion. There’s a powder coated metal frame with perspex screening and integrated power sockets.
The same metal frame motif is found in further bespoke pieces – one is a high table with an oak laminate top and an off-white metal frame, complete with integrated lighting to give a striking, contemporary look. Our bespoke high stools are upholstered in Panaz leather with RAL-matched frames in navy blue and bottle green.
A final bespoke seating unit includes a brass-effect metal frame which wraps around the side and over the top of the upholstered booth-style seating. The unit is clad in deep blue tiles and finished with a brass trim around the base. There’s integrated planting and an oversized globe bulb fixed overhead, creating a semi-private space in this busy, bustling destination.
This sort of project is always really enjoyable for the Furniture Fusion team as there’s lots to get to grips with, and plenty of creative thinking and problem-solving along the way. The end result is pretty special, and they are delighted with how things went – it was another creative, collaborative experience and that’s just how they like it.
Free Standing Commercial Furniture
As you can imagine, the food court is a busy, high traffic part of the centre, and so it was essential that the furniture supplied could withstand high usage, as well as looking great.
The Ivy side chair features here, upholstered in charcoal-grey Panaz Delph – a hard-wearing woven fabric that looks great alongside our marble laminated-topped tables.
Techna bar stools sit around one of the brand’s bespoke pieces – these stools are a versatile and practical choice for any hospitality venue. The powder-coated aluminium frame is matched to RAL5000 and finished with upholstery in Sekers Capella – a very hard-wearing faux leather that looks smart and will withstand heavy use.
The Biba side chair was a key piece for this project – a sleek, contemporary design that’s stackable and works well in any commercial setting. The team supplied three different versions of this bestseller – two upholstered in Panaz leather with a RAL-matched lacquer finish on the beech frame, and another solid beech chair stained to aniline white.
It’s always a pleasure to see a project come together and this was no exception – these are practical, hardwearing pieces that work so well for a busy venue. Another creative, collaborative project and Furniture Fusion are delighted with the end result.
