Technical knitting is a form of fabric manufacturing which is created using computer aided design (CAD) on a bespoke basis. This means that each Camira Knit fabric is custom made for an individual product, ensuring it exactly fits its dimensions, and delivering a zero-waste textile component which can be applied with exceptional ease of upholstery.
Quietly gaining industry acclaim and popularity in recent years, Camira Knit has created bespoke textiles for some of the world’s largest manufacturers and their bestselling products – responsible for the fabrics featured on Haworth’s Very and Soji chairs, the Evo lounge chair by EFG, and the renowned Haze pendant by Zero Lighting, amongst many others. As part of the launch of the new brand, the company has created an extended film which features interviews with the designers behind these products, providing a compelling insight into the ways in which knit can be used.
Darren Hill, Head of Camira Knit, comments on the launch of the new brand, “Knit is more popular than ever before – we’re seeing it everywhere from fashion to furniture, and even performance sportswear. It really has captured people’s imaginations, and we are incredibly excited to embrace this new era of knit and bring Camira’s capabilities to life.
The perfect complement to our weaving expertise, technical knitting holds incredibly exciting possibilities, bringing a wide range of aesthetic and operational benefits to our customers – and we can’t wait for them to see all that it can do under the new Camira Knit brand name.”
