Graduate Profile: Tim Oldroyd
This week we have already taken a look at the work of Sheffield Hallam graduate Till Stackmann and One Year On exhibitor Tim Evershed. Today we will introduce you to Rycotewood graduate Tim Oldroyd.
Tim Oldroyd will graduate from Rycotewood with a Design and Make BA (Hons), you can see Tim’s work at the Rycotewood Summer Show, City Of Oxford College OX11SA, from the 20th – 24th June. Tim will also be exhibited at Grown Out of Rycotewod, Furniture Makers Hall, London EC2N2HE, 6th July 4 – 8pm.
We asked Tim to tell us more about his piece: ‘This Chair evolved in response to the title ‘What can furniture makers learn from Grand Designs?’ Clad in cedar with a rough sawn outer and smooth inner, to echo rough roof shingles and fine interior walls. The rusted steel frame provides a strong minimalist foundation for the seat, back and cladding.’
At this huge lifetime milestone we asked Tim about his plans for the future: ‘Future plans include exploring the commercial opportunities of this chair and not only furnishing my own home but building it too.’
You can follow Tim’s design and making progress on Instagram here.
