Hallgarth Manor’s transformation from estate to hotel by Concorde BGW
Concorde BGW, an award winning interior design and construction agency, enlisted the help of BCFA member Revivalist to develop the concept for both rooms and general areas at Hallgarth Manor: a charming hotel situated 3 miles outside of Durham. Formerly a private country estate, the manor is now a stunning 23-bedroom hotel and wedding venue. Concorde are best known for their award-winning design and build projects in the leisure and hospitality sectors, with roots dating back to the 1960s. They stand firmly by their traditional values of care and craftsmanship, which enables them to flourish with teams in London and Yorkshire, united by an unwavering commitment to creativity and quality.
With 23-bedrooms and all the public areas to design, specify and deliver in an extremely tight timescale of six weeks, this was a challenge of the highest order. Despite such a small-time frame to source furniture, carpets, bric-a-brac and all other fixtures and fittings, Concorde still delivered outstanding customer care all the way through the process, so that the project was delivered on-time and on budget much to the delight of Lee Bramzell, Hallgarth Manor Owner.
“Concorde have delivered for us. In truth, we were in a very tight spot and they delivered something way beyond our expectations – it’s stunning! We are planning further projects. I can’t recommend them enough as a business to work with.” – Lee Bramzell, Shepherd Cox owner of The Hallgarth Manor.
Concorde restored period features to reflect Hallgarth Manor’ illustrious heritage and charm, many of the original timber beams where revealed and included in the bedroom décor. They also used arched window mirrors, oversized quilted headboards and chandelier lights to add to the magnificent ambience that this venue has.
Each room has been designed with both the clients and the guests’ needs in mind, from the romantic free-standing copper bath in the Bridal Suite with its panoramic views of Hallgarth Manor grounds, to the relaxing and luxurious interiors of the other 22 guest bedrooms. The bridal suite also features a double shower with rainfall ceiling shower heads and hand-held body shower heads.
All of the bedrooms are generously proportioned with comfortable double beds and stylish en-suite bathrooms, complete with beautifully tiled floors and tasteful furniture. They have been designed with a feminine or masculine colour scheme in mind continuing the newlywed, bride and groom uses of the rooms.
“We wanted to approach the project from a fresh perspective and not just another wedding venue fit-out scheme, so we started from scratch listening to our client’s requirements and drawing on inspiration from grand stately homes and unusual, rustic barn conversions”. – Laura Howe, Head of Design North.
