How Lugo Furnished the Hencote Vineyard Expansion
Hencote is an English vineyard nestled high within the Shropshire countryside on the outskirts of Shrewsbury framed by the dramatic Wrekin hills, which Lugo helped restore. The vineyard and surrounding areas are popular with those wanting to stroll the ancient woodlands, take in the beautiful landscape and taste and purchase award-winning locally produced wines.
While visiting the winery, the Grange, a stunningly restored Georgian farmhouse is also available for those wanting to extend their stay.
The owner of the estate, Andy Stevens, wanted to expand the company profile of the vineyard and luxury onsite accommodation by developing the winery experience and adding a brand-new restaurant that only uses the finest local and national produce. The onsite restaurant was to be accompanied by a glamping village of luxury glamping lodges looking over the Hencote vineyard below. Lugo was commissioned to produce contract quality loose furniture and casegoods for both the restaurant and the glamping village.
The interior design of the new 112 cover restaurant was carried out by Interior Panda, designed to ooze comfort and capture the serenity of the 180-degree panoramic views of surrounding countryside. Lugo was appointed and assisted the interior designer throughout the specification process and supplied all loose furniture to this charming rural project. The glamping lodges were designed through a thoughtfully combined approach between the owner operator and the Lugo design team.
The 16 Arki-base table designs specified had four stylish steal powder coated tripod legs and was supplied in a variety of square and round table tops that span the restaurant. They were finished in a medium oak laminate with a solid walnut edge.
The restaurant furniture was upholstered in vibrant plush fabrics from Malone Fabrics, Mulberry, Harmony, Moss, Duck Egg and Kasbah. All of the loose furniture designs were complimented and formed a unity throughout the bar, lounge area and restaurant with delicate piping detail around the edges. A combination of 86 Jade tub chairs and restaurant chairs created an eclectic river of seating across the restaurant horizon, perfectly contrasting with the views.
Within the lounge area, seven two and three-seater bespoke sofas in vibrant blue and purple plus 26 contrasting scatter cushions for extra comfort were mixed amongst the Nancy lounge chair in an array of blues and greens. To complete this impressive lounge area a mix of the Bubble and Tavro champagne tables were a luxurious addition to the ambience, finished in an Ash Veneer and stained to match with integral champagne buckets.
The surrounding bar areas were scattered with Sage bar stools also in matching fabrics, creating a variety of seating options for guests whether they want to perch at the bar counter or recline in the lounge area while sipping the finest wines produced on the grounds. With such a variety of setting options, this makes for a very versatile setup, which can be rearranged into different configurations for different uses of the space.
Lugo supplied and installed fitted and loose furniture, plus lighting, to the two styles of glamping lodges available, which were the “Plus Range” and a “Two-Story Lodge”. The client wanted to continue the theme of wine throughout the process.
Continuing the theme of wine, the furniture upholsteries were used in the lodges in a range of colourways that reflected the tones of Hencote’s award-winning wine. Lugo suggested stylish yet practical furniture to best suit the dimensions of the lodges and to withstand the punishment from glamping guests that they would likely receive.
The main living area consisted of a bespoke dining table and coffee table with toughened glass top. These were stained in walnut and accompanied by four to six Arisa restaurant chairs in each lodge. All lodges were furnished with either two sofas or a sofa and lounge chair depending on lodge configurations. These were customised versions of the Delphine sofa in a range of Panaz Linier split fabrics with stitch detail to the outer arms. These were upholstered in a variety of colourways in each lodge to match the dining table chairs.
Bedrooms were fitted with a king size divan bed base and mattress finished with an upholstered winged headboard with deep buttoning in reds and neutrals. Also installed were bespoke single and double wardrobes, TV units and shelving units. The tripod legs of the restaurant tables were continued into the glamping lodges for continuity through the leg design of the coffee table, bedside and stand-alone lighting.
Everything was delivered and installed for the new restaurant by Lugo’s installation team within just one day. Lugo had to carefully consider the delivery and installation of all the furniture for the restaurant and glamping lodges due to working to a strict opening deadline of six week and very restricted access.
