Isabel’s: The Ultimate Contemporary Restaurant

Isabel’s, a contemporary restaurant in Burton designed by Copper & Ash, opened last year with a lively and modern atmosphere. Named by owner and Brit Award-nominated DJ Nathan Dawe as a tribute to his late nan, the venue blends a sense of urban sophistication with a welcoming local charm.

With over 40 years of experience, Versital specializes in bespoke surfaces for hospitality and residential projects, offering tailored solutions to meet designer specifications. As part of the transformation, Versital supplied bespoke cultured marble surfaces that became key design elements.

Luxury Marble Bar Tops

To add a real wow factor to the venue, Copper & Ash opted for a classic marble bar top placed as a centre-piece within the restaurant.

The finish Busy Carrata from Versital was chosen as the statement touch. This bespoke marble bar top is very much the feature point to the venue, enabling customers to sit at the bar watching whilst their drinks are created. Copper & Ash said:

“We combined luxury finishes with industrial, refined materials to create the juxtaposition between the two. Colourful planting is located throughout the venue keeping the space fresh while adding an element of ‘wow’ and a window frame system has been introduced to allow natural light in while adding an air of mystique to passers by. We played with a range of adjustable and layered lighting to enable the mood to be switched up depending on the time of day.”

Whilst the bar top has the appearance of a true to life marble with beautiful veins and depth of colour, being a cultured marble it doesn’t suffer from the drawbacks the natural material brings.  Whilst natural marble is porous and suffers from staining, Versital is 100% waterproof and stain proof.

Contemporary Design

Isabel’s oozes modern touches. The custom bright LED slogan ‘First we dine’ illuminates the restaurant in a vibrant shade of blue, whilst using abstract monochrome tiling on the flooring. The creative team at Copper & Ash chose to echo the shape of the door arches throughout the venue with an interesting panelled wall feature.

Greenery was also an important element of the overall design, keeping the space fresh. Planting has been used to great effect above the bar, complimenting the pops of green on the wall panels and bar front.

Practical as well as Stylish

Along with the bar tops, Copper & Ash opted to use Versital for the table tops. Being a stain proof waterproof material they are ideal for table tops as part of a busy restaurant. Versital has the additional benefit of the anti-bacterial protection of SteriTouch as part of all it’s surfaces.

Versital Working in Partnership with Designers

Versital are no stranger to working alongside designers and specifiers in the hospitality sector. Gemma Stockberger, Director said:

“As well as manufacturing marble surfaces to design specification, we are also on hand to offer advice to designers to help create the vision they have whilst being a practical real-world solution. We often have designers who approach us with a brief and initial design who may need advice making it work in practice. Our aim is to take the stress away from the designer and end client and work alongside other trades to get a good end result.”
