KI Supply New London Architecture’s New Premises at Guildhall

New London Architecture (NLA) have recently moved from the Building Centre near Tottenham Court Road to ‘The London Centre’, located in the West Wing of Guildhall – a building complex that started life approximately 2,000 years ago. The NLA is an independent, purpose-led organisation for anyone interested in London buildings – covering everything from workspaces, homes, the public realm, and beyond. The new location will be a hub for networking, private and public events, and discussions for both professionals and enthusiasts.

The space also features models of London including a 12.5m long representation of central London, and a 3D model of The City of London, with details showing buildings built since the year 2000. Workshops and mentoring sessions as part of their partnership with the Harris Federation, an education charity led and run by teachers, will also take place in the new setting.

In order to provide an environment to meet these needs, a selection of KI furniture was chosen by NLA. The Lynn Chadwick inspired Zig table was specified in a range of styles including a poseur height circular table, a rectangular poseur height table, and standard height tables.

Scrum rectangular flip-top nesting tables also feature and provide NLA with a versatile and manoeuvrable solution that can be used for normal gallery use, meetings, and other events. Both the Zig and the Scrum tables have a worksurface made from 25mm MFC with Sorano Oak finish and have understructures finished in RAL 9017 Black.

To continue the need for flexibility, Grafton high 4-leg stools were paired with the poseur height tables, while Grafton 4-leg chairs on glides, and the Maestro HD stacking chair provide comfortable seating for the standard height tables. Both chairs are light enough to be easily reconfigured, but provide the necessary durability required.

The Grafton collection is defined by a distinctive injection-moulded backrest that provides better ventilation and flexibility while Maestro is extremely adaptable and easy to store (it stacks up to 10 chairs on the floor, and up to 38 using Maestro’s own special dolly). The Grafton chairs and stools have a black frame and black seat/back, and Maestro has a chrome frame with a black seat/back.

Benjamin O’Connor, Director at NLA, commented, “We’re delighted to have KI’s distinctive, sleek and stylish furniture in the London Centre. KI’s use of good design, advanced engineering and sustainable resources supports our ambition to only use materials in the space that explore sustainable ways of building. Now, more than ever, we need to take the right steps to make sure our buildings and spaces are environmentally sound, low energy and built to last – and the London Centre is a perfect example of this.”

KI was also chosen by NLA for their sustainability outlook and because their products are Certified Indoor Advantage™ Gold, meaning they are suitable for buildings looking for LEED v4.1, BREEAM, WELL Building, and Living Building Challenge rating systems.
