Morgan’s Sketching Exhibition
Morgan Furniture hosted a talk by pen & ink artist Luke Adam Hawker in its Clerkenwell showroom during London Design Festival.
Specialising in intricate architectural and natural drawings on location, Luke spoke about his process and experience as an artist against a backdrop of open sketchbooks, inviting guests into his world of observing and capturing the world around us. He engaged the audience at length, answering the numerous questions of curious minds.
“Drawing and sharing art is a way of communicating and celebrating our differences and unique perspectives with one another. I hope our showroom helps cultivate this. It’s amazing what can happen when you bring a group of creative minds together in a comfortable setting.” – Katerina Zachariades, Morgan’s design director.
Following the talk, Luke encouraged everyone to pick up a pen and piece of paper and then find an interesting perspective within the showroom to capture, with the chance to win a limited edition print of his work. Without hesitation, guests spread out in groups or on their own to set about drawing.
“We often get too caught up in our work and daily lives to dedicate any time to art and creativity, so it was inspiring to see so many people enjoying putting pen to paper.” – Katerina Zachariades, Morgan’s design director.
From interpretations of beer bottles to depictions of light installations, the resulting sketches illustrated how many opportunities exist to create art out of anything. Luke’s work continues to be on display, and on sale, at the Morgan showroom at 1 Dallington Street, London, EC1V 0BH.
