Product Watch: Lohko by Scion
Lohko: An energetic and dynamic collection of modernist geometrics from Scion
For 2016, British brand Scion has created Lohko, a retro-contemporary range of printed fabrics, voiles and wallpapers with an assertive, architectural feel. Named after the Finnish word for ‘blocks’, Lohko is a graphic collection, featuring asymmetric motifs, bold slabs of colour and repeating, cut-out geometrics that defy the laws of gravity and proudly break the rules of design.
Lohko bears the distinctive style of Scion Designer Hannah Bowen, who was also responsible for 2015’s Levande and Guess Who? collections. Hannah has created energy and movement in her designs through the use of irregular patterns, confident freehand lines and self-assured colour combinations.
“This fashion-led collection centres around graphic modernist motifs, formed from fractured geometrics and deconstructed, overlaid shapes. I wanted to experiment with regularity, structure and symmetry to create interesting allover patterns with a clean, contemporary edge.”
From Lohko’s oversized abstract boulder motif to Modul’s sparsely-spaced triangles, Vector’s sophisticated chevrons, Malva’s linear stem, Octant’s Scandi-chic part-circle and horizontal squiggles and the simplistic tulips of Sula, the collection channels non-conformity, irrepressible energy and measured exuberance.
The use of specially-developed slub-textured grounds emphasizes Lohko’s abstract quality and highlights repetition within the shapes, whilst its colour palette channels vivid colours with a hint of black, and includes new tones for 2016 of Spice, Paprika and Blush.
Lohko will be launched at Paris Déco-Off in January 2016, after which it will be available via a network of stockists both nationally and internationally.
