Ready for take-off: Furniture Fusion delivers a sleek redesign for Thistle Hotel London Heathrow T5
For their latest project, Furniture Fusion, a leader in contract furniture with expertise in both bespoke and pre-designed solutions, touched down at London Heathrow Airport, creating and supplying furniture for a newly redesigned hotel.
Situated alongside the runway and next to the terminal, Thistle Hotel London Heathrow T5 is a favourite destination for travellers, or those who love a bit of big jet watching. The hotel has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment, with a bright new look for the Aviator Sports Bar & Restaurant and hotel lobby.
Over an 18-month period, Furniture Fusion delivered a timely redesign, ensuring completion well ahead of the peak summer travel period. The project provided the ideal opportunity to showcase their bespoke expertise, featuring unique pieces alongside established favourites from their collection. The Lucy Side Chair, Armchair and Bar Stool are now a stylish presence throughout the bar and restaurant. Upholstered in sleek faux leather with textured linen-look fabric for the inner and outer back, the Lucy Side Chair beautifully demonstrates its versatility for any hospitality setting.
Floor to ceiling windows run the length of the spacious bar and restaurant, giving plane watchers a perfect spot to spy aircraft landing and taking off. To enhance the viewing experience, Furniture Fusion selected the elegant Portland Side Chair, upholstered in beautiful woven Sunbury fabrics and complemented by cherry-stained legs.
The bar area is an inviting place to spend some time, with plenty of comfortable seating throughout. Furniture Fusion created a bespoke version of its popular Glow Sofa – a streamlined shape with a retro, mid-century feel. Upholstered again in textured Sunbury fabrics, it sits perfectly alongside the Glow Low Back Lounge Chair.
The hotel lobby also has a striking new look, setting a really welcoming tone for guests on arrival at the hotel. Furniture Fusion incorporated pieces from the Alissa collection, featuring contrasting back and seat upholstery. The side chair legs were stained to walnut to coordinate with the Ramis Oval Coffee Table. To add a contemporary touch, the Fiji Lounge Chair and Stanton Modular Seating were introduced. Both pieces feature sleek metal frame details and upholstery in muted shades of blue, grey and heather.
The colour palette adds warmth and creates a calming atmosphere – ideal for a busy airport environment. Furniture Fusion’s design choices ensure that jet-setters can unwind in style, ready for their next destination.
