Review: Stockholm Furniture Fair 2017

Stockholm Furniture Fair welcomes over 40,000 visitors

BCFA’s Sue Graves faced the huge queues to gain entry to the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, indicating that this showcase of the best of Scandinavian design remains high on the must visit list. Out of the 700 companies who participated, 80% were from Scandinavia and the design quality of the stands and visual displays took our breath away. The number of foreign visitors increased by more than 6.5% to almost 10,700 and represented a record-setting 80 countries. In total over the five days of the show, Stockholmsmässan welcomed over 40,000 visitors.

Our first call was at the Greenhouse, an area of just over 60 selected applicants from 31 Design Schools and independent designers from 18 different countries to show an array of new designs.steel rod chairsOur stand out product from this section was a group of students from Helsinki’s Aalto University who presented a range of chairs made using only three thicknesses of galvanised steel rods.

BCFA Members that attended the show were; Kobe, Camira and Astro Lighting and they all had beautiful stands. This show was a truly stunning one, and the products and stands are a great inspiration for the ever-growing Scandi love. Check out some of our favorites below;
