The art deco inspired Delaunay is a sleek and sophisticated sofa designed as a showstopper with the ability to instantly elevate a space. The design originated from a client’s bespoke request for a curved sofa that would mirror the radius of a circular rug situated in the lobby of a prestigious property development complex.
Commenting on the original design concept, Filipe Oliveira Head of Projects & Design, said:
“The client wanted the contour of the sofa to curve in symmetry with a circular rug and coffee table and produced a sketch for what they had in mind. Affectionately nicknamed ‘the jellybean,’ I used our CAD software to play with the design idea and achieve a curved structure that would aesthetically meet the brief and would also form the base of a sturdy frame to support the seating unit. This was the early stage of the product development process to allow the client to conceptualise the design and to permit us to optimise the technicalities of construction.”

It has proven to be a popular piece for clients looking to make an impression when redesigning their reception or welcome areas, particularly when it is upholstered in plush velvet fabric.”
Rhubarb Seating have The Delaunay on display in their showroom in Thame, Oxfordshire, upholstered in their signature brand colour purple. It can also be seen in the Koplus showroom in Clerkenwell, London. Commenting on The Delaunay, Barry Foley, Koplus UK’s CEO, said:
