Roma: the latest from Chelsom’s Edition 26

Roma from Chelsom is one of the signature ranges from the latest collection Edition 26, presenting a selection of contemporary urban fittings that would be an impressive addition to a wide variety of interior genres.

Inspired by industrial designs, the Roma table lamp by Chelsom fuses cutting edge design with the latest technology. Available as part of a wider collection of coordinated wall, floor and ceiling lighting, Roma features tapered perforated metal shades finished in Golden Bronze with internal PVC Opal diffusers to give a dramatic and softly diffused light effect. 

The finish is a response to the re-emergence of brass as the favoured decorative metal finish. As ever when a finish comes back around a second or third time, it has usually moved on to a higher level so the polished Brass of old becomes subtly brushed and patinated.

In terms of design Roma epitomises a move forward from the slightly industrial look of recent years and adds the glamour of a perforated metal shade. The final details are added by a white PVC backing within the shade to diffuse the light source properly and the top and bottom metal trim on the shade to prevent sharp edges and give extra sophistication to the design.

“We always try to create a family of fittings where possible, to allow designers to coordinate a lighting look within a scheme. The constant demand for a more ambient light output which incorporates latest technology LED was achieved by using 7W lamps within the diffused perforated metal shades combining that with gold and bronze metal work and satin black accents all came together to create the collection.” – Lucy White, Head of Marketing.

Roma is one of Chelsom’s most striking designs it comes from a whole collection of ranges covering guestroom and public area lighting designed to set trends an enhance striking interiors.

It stands out because the ambience created by subtly diffused light coming through perforated metal brasswork and also the unusual shape of columns and arms.
