The Great Outdoors: How Nordlux’s Portable Lights Lit Up Our Holiday

We all want to make the most of the spaces we spend our time in—whether it’s our homes, outdoor areas, or the commercial spaces that add so much to our daily lives.

So, when Nordlux invited me to take two of their portable outdoor lights on a UK holiday with my family, I was intrigued. It wasn’t just about testing the lights; it was about discovering how having control over our lighting, wherever we went, could enhance the way we enjoyed each space.

Portability was key with these two lights and taking them along with us opened up so many possibilities. It gave us the freedom to create just the right atmosphere wherever we were, and it sparked ideas about how this kind of flexibility could be a game-changer in commercial settings for the user and operator.

We had the pleasure of testing out the Ara To Go, a rechargeable, battery-powered LED light that’s perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. With its dimmable touch switch and beautifully balanced organic shape topped with an elegant leather handle, the design immediately communicated its portable nature.

We also tried out the Saulio, a solar-charged light with 3-step Moodmaker™ dimming and a 5-year LED guarantee. This one can also be charged via USB and, unlike the Ara To Go, allows you to adjust the angle of the light, making it ideal for more focused, directional lighting.

I’ll take you through six different settings where we used these two lights and share our personal experiences along the way.

Beach

Our evening stroll down to the beach, winding through seafront holiday homes to the quiet sands, became even more special thanks to the Ara To Go light. Its warm glow extended our day, allowing us to unwind with a good book and a stunning view after a busy sun-filled afternoon.

With the light slightly dimmed, it was perfect for some relaxed reading and reflection. As we made our way back, we found ourselves planning a return for an evening BBQ, confident that the Ara To Go would enhance the ambiance and make the night even more memorable.

Bar

We turned a few heads when we walked into a classic cocktail bar with our own lighting in tow. But it quickly became clear that the contemporary design of the Ara To Go fit right in with the traditional interior, adding just the right touch of ambiance to our table.

In hospitality settings, chargeable lighting like this is becoming a go-to for creating the perfect mood. The Ara To Go not only puts control in the hands of the guests but also offers peace of mind for operators, knowing it will shine brightly for up to 80 hours before needing a recharge.

Pizzeria

At a family pizzeria, the portability of the Ara To Go light sparked a conversation about inclusive design. It highlighted how vital it is to create spaces that cater to everyone, including neurodiverse individuals, by allowing users to adjust their surroundings—be it lighting, sound, or temperature—to suit their needs.

This light demonstrated how thoughtful design can contribute to making public spaces successfully neuroinclusive and adaptable for all.

Scrabble

As our game of Scrabble became more intense and the sun began to set, the Saulio light came into its own. Its adjustable, directional lighting allowed us to keep the board well-lit while maintaining a cozy, ambient atmosphere in the room.

The light was easy to set up, and the smooth angle adjustment and curved handle made it a pleasure to use. After our game wrapped up, we seamlessly moved out to the terrace, taking the Saulio with us to continue enjoying the evening.

Garden Cocktails

Before heading to the beach, we left the Saulio charging in the garden, trusting its weatherproof design to withstand any unexpected showers. By the time we returned, it was fully charged and ready to illuminate an alfresco glass of wine.

The Saulio proved to be the perfect companion for a quiet night in the garden, and we couldn’t help but think how useful it would be on a camping trip or for guests at glamping sites and holiday lodges.

Desk

Back home, we couldn’t stop thinking about the Saulio’s versatility, so we decided to try it out as a desk light. It quickly became an essential part of our early morning and evening work routine, especially as we navigated the balance between work and family during the school holidays.

With a height-adjustable desk, the cable-free convenience of the Saulio was an added bonus, making it easy to move around as needed while keeping our workspace clutter-free.

In Conclusion …

Our experience with the Ara To Go and Saulio lights was a lesson in how portable, well-designed lighting can transform any setting. From a peaceful beach evening to a lively pizza night, these lights consistently enhanced our surroundings, offering flexibility and control that made each moment more enjoyable.

What impressed us most was the quality and thoughtful design of both products. From the recyclable packaging to the ease of use, it’s clear that Nordlux prioritizes both aesthetics and functionality. These lights didn’t just illuminate our spaces—they enriched our holiday, proving their value for both personal and commercial use. Nordlux has successfully blended style, innovation, and reliability into portable lighting solutions that elevate any environment.
