The Independent Hotel Show to reveal The Hotel Room of the Future

Continuing in its quest to bring visionary insight to the country’s best independent hoteliers, the Independent Hotel Show, presented by James Hallam Insurance Brokers, is excited to reveal The Hotel Room of the Future when it returns to London Olympia on 16 & 17 October.

The sequel to last year’s Perfect Hotel Bedroom, this Insta-inspiring installation has been designed by Two’s Company Interior Design based on research and roundtables with industry pioneers and futurists. Promising to generate relevant and meaningful conversation, The Hotel Room of the Future will present reality in a decade or so, rather than push the boundaries of believability. It will echo the ethos of the Independent Hotel Show – to provide hoteliers with innovation and design to continuously improve the guest experience.

In The Hotel Room of the Future, be surrounded by intuitive design, multi-channel connectivity, sensor-led sleep support and in-room systems. For a more in-depth look, read the dedicated report presenting the design rationale, the evolving needs of today’s business and leisure travelers, the importance of sleep, place making and more. You can also join the discussion at the Innovation Stage on 16 October to understand the process of how The Hotel Room of the Future was made.

So, what will be inside The Hotel Room of the Future? Well, as designers of the bed Simba say, “sleep is sacred”. And with tech, scent and science incorporated into the design of this fundamental feature, the perfect night’s sleep is just around the corner.

See and touch the rather cool hammock bath by Splinter Works. Crafted from carbon fibre, it is a sublime vehicle for escapism and revitalisation. It also promises low energy consumption with optimum functionality. Try out discreet one-touch keypads to operate lighting, heating and air-conditioning, designed to give your guests bespoke control. See how the room embraces the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) trend with its smart entertainment systems and find contemporary furniture cleverly infused with technology for ultimate comfort from Crestron and Smartcomm.

But does the guest of tomorrow really want lots of technology? Will guests who increasingly fall into the ‘Work-Life’ category of traveller evolve to prefer functionality over design? This hot topic, as well as the research carried out to bring the future of luxury hospitality to life and more will be discussed by Gilly Craft, BIID President and Partner & Designer at Two’s Company Interior Design, Rodney Hoinkes, Chief Insight and Innovation Officer, Fresh Montgomery, and Petra Clayton, Managing Director, Custard Communications on the Innovation Stage on 16 October.

“We all hear about the huge investments in technology, personalisation, and design being undertaken by the chains. The Hotel Room of the Future is about the future that matters to independent hoteliers and their guests. What are the true trends, not just fads, and where should focus and budget be spent and wisely avoided. How, where, and why should they invest to compete for the benefit of their visitors and their operations.” – Rodney Hoinkes, Chief Insight and Innovation Officer, Fresh Montgomery.

“Creating a room with 21st Century technology, luxury, comfort and outstanding service for the guest, as well as seamless interaction with front of house and housekeeping, are the challenges of today’s hotelier. Our choices to convey this are carefully chosen and researched to create a room with outstanding product and service.” – Nicholas Sunderland, Two’s Company Interior Design
