Unique British Elegance – The Champions’ Room at Wimbledon
British furniture designer and manufacturer, Morgan, has produced highly bespoke and prestigious solutions for the newly designed Champions’ Room at The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), Wimbledon. Housing a welcome reception and a 90 plus seater restaurant, the Champions’ Room is the exclusive hospitality venue for the Centre Court debenture holders at Wimbledon to provide an elegant and relaxing break with fine dining or afternoon tea.
Working closely with SHH Interior Design and Architecture, and the AELTC Estate team, Morgan developed bespoke pieces from their Oslo and Hampton collections to meet the precise design brief. Oslo dining chairs have an elegant, oak species timber frame and combine modern manufacturing techniques with a hand-crafted look. Their unique adaptation includes rattan inset backs and purple leather straps with brass buckles that are fitted to leather back cushions, over an extended height oak species frame.
Hampton features a classic profile and contemporary detailing with elegant upholstery that ensures the highest levels of comfort. For the restaurant, which commands views of courts 14 and 15 with the excitement on the hill just beyond, Hampton sofas were adapted to a seat height suitable to dining and Hampton 550B arm chairs provide a comfortable welcome in the reception area.
Both Morgan collections are a perfect fit with the new fresh and elegant interior scheme that provides guests with an exclusive environment in an overall colour scheme that ‘nods’ to the iconic Championships including carpet tiles in rich purple and bar and serving areas in stunning green marble.
Morgan Senior Account Director, Simon Fleming, comments,
“As a British manufacturer, we are extremely proud to have worked and designed for such a prestigious British venue as Wimbledon which is celebrated the world over.”
SHH designed the entire space to create a wonderful customer experience – a true Wimbledon day out. This is reflected in the refinement of the space, subtle use of colour and exquisite detailing. The prestigious brand is brought subtly into the design of new crockery, glassware and cutlery with a bespoke charger plate, napkins and menus.
Last year, Morgan also collaborated with SHH and the AELTC on the Aorangi Pavilion at Wimbledon, again producing original furniture designs as a key component of the interior scheme.
