What does your desk say about you? Peter Roth

In this series Design Insider will be speaking to designers, architects and directors to find out more about their working space and what this says about them. We caught up with Peter Roth, Design Manager at Burgess Furniture, who celebrate their 60th anniversary this year.

“Having started my career with only a drawing board and paper, it is incredible how far technology has progressed, these days I rarely sketch concepts on paper, I put my ideas straight onto the screen, and being able to see the concept from every angle on the screen, extract working drawings, weights and other information at a click of a button is brilliant. Here on my screen you can see the final CAD model of the CasuElle chair which is part of our new Bedroom Collection.”

“With the investment in a 3D printer a couple of years ago it has rapidly become an essential part of our design work. It enables us to see scale models of concepts at an early stage, prototype components and speed the whole design process up.”

“With all the High Tech at our fingertips today it is worth remembering that furniture is still a very tactile product, with the comfort and feel of the right fabrics contributing to the users’ experience.”
